01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
About this place
Just a short walk from the East Exit of Yoyogi-Uehara Station, up on the 2nd floor of its building, Yakiniku Rock is a grill restaurant where diners can enjoy quality wagyu without pretension. Chic black walls adorned with hand-drawn illustrations and soft, moody lighting create a welcoming space equally suited to easygoing group dinners and casual dates.
A natural starting point is the special 5-cut platter featuring A5-grade wagyu. It balances sweet, melting marbling with the deep savory flavor of leaner cuts: generous slices of sirloin that melt with just a quick sear over the grate and finely marbled premium short rib contrast with lean cuts like togarashi (chuck tender), kamenoko (lower thigh), and shin-shin (core knuckle), which yield rich flavor with every chew. Pairing this assortment with thick-cut salted tongue, prized for its satisfying bite, or exceptionally fresh special liver makes for a well-rounded feast.
Side Dishes and Comforting Final Courses
The side menu offers plenty of variety between cuts. Freshly tossed kimchi, retaining the pleasant crunch of raw Chinese cabbage made to order, crisp daikon radish salad, and pork tripe tossed in citrusy yuzu kosho all serve as refreshing palate cleansers or snacks to accompany drinks. For the final course, choices range from negitama rice mixed with plenty of scallions and egg, to refreshing cold noodles in a clean broth, or mildly spicy yukgaejang gukbap (spicy beef soup with rice), offering a satisfying finish for whatever mood strikes.
A 2-hour all-you-can-drink option covering draft beer, highballs, wine, and more is also available, making it a reliable pick for an unhurried evening of grilling and drinks with friends.
